Should you be interested in this year’s 42nd Karel Velebný Summer Jazz Workshop 2025, please find here below basic information along with the application form.
1. Please, confirm your participation by sending us the filled in form on-line by June 1, 2025.
2. The registration of the participants of the workshop will take place on Saturday, August 9 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the BESEDA restaurant in Frýdlant.
3. The early-bird registration fee is 4 900 CZK (accommodation in ice hockey club dorm included) or 4 200 CZK (no accommodation). Also, for those who wish to stay at the Albrechtova vyhlídka pension, please book your accommodation directly and as soon as possible with Mrs. Michalková, phone 00420 731 489 574, e-mail: albrechtovavyhlidka@gmail.com . For more information visit www.albrechtova-vyhlidka.cz. When booked, please check “no accommodation” in the application form. Applications received after June 1, 2025 will warrant a full fee of 5 600 CZK (accommodation in ice hockey club dorm included) or 4 900 CZK (Albrechtova vyhlídka pension or without accommodation).
Foreign participants may pay on their arrival to Frýdlant. In order to benefit from the early-bird their participation should be confirmed at the below-given e-mail by June 1, 2025.
4. Important!!! The number of places is limited. Please make your bookings as soon as possible; applications will be registered within the limit of free places in the order in which they are received.
5. Please, bring your instruments and learning tools necessary for your training (e.g. fake-books, scores and music stand).
6. A large part of the schedule is devoted to playing in bands. To avoid chaos during the Sunday repartition into groups, you will be asked to preliminarily sign up for a group of to one of the tutors’ class on registration.
7. The tutors setup for this year’s edition will most likely be the following: Josef Fečo (bass) Zdeněk Fišer (guitar), Miroslav Hloucal (trumpet), Štěpán Janoušek (trombone), Petr Kalfus (saxes) František Krtička (keyboards), Pavel Razím (drums), Jiří Stivín (improvisation), Milo Suchomel (saxes), Jaroslav Šindler (guitar), Lubomír Šrámek (keyboards), Zdeněk "Wimpy" Tichota (bassguitar), Adam Tvrdý (guitar), Boris Urbánek (keyboards), Marek Urbánek (drums), Veronika Vítová (vocal) and Martin Zbrožek (violin). Of the Anglo-Saxon tutors, Lee Andrew Davison (vocal), Andy Schofield (saxes), Neil Wetzel (saxes and big band) and Skip Wilkins (vocal) will attend.
Daily timetable:
- 9.00-9.30 ear training and rhythmic warm-up
- 9.30-12.00 lessons in instrumental classes
- 12.00-14.00 lunch break
- 14.00-16.00 groups rehearsals
- 16.00-17.00 big band I rehearsal
- 17.00-18.00 big band II rehearsal
- 16.00-17.00 spiritual and gospel singers
- 20.00-23.00 jam session
